Who is Meganotravels?

Hey, I’m Megan! I’m a full-time consultant and run
a non-profit on the side. And when I’m not doing those
things—I’m traveling! I’m on a mission to travel,
photograph, and write about the world.

Hope you’ll follow along!

What is “Megano?”

An “Italian” name (rhymes with “Figaro”) given to me
by a friend before I studied abroad in Rome. I had to be
more Italian, you see. It’s stuck ever since.

One of the best parts of being in the states again One of the best parts of being in the states again is getting to spend time in New York. (And eat dim sum in Chinatown.)

I never expected to have to say goodbye to him this early in life, but I’m learning all sorts of lessons about life this year. Thanks for teaching me lots of hard lessons and fun skills; giving me my massive love of music (especially ‘70s classic rock); providing an awesome sense of humor; and passing down your love of all things chocolate peanut butter. Love you forever. ❤️
I’m not sure how to sum up 3 years (and 3 days) I’m not sure how to sum up 3 years (and 3 days) of living in Amsterdam. It was my dream for many many years to live there, and while I thought I would for much longer, I’m eternally grateful for fulfilling that dream.
.
Life there was much more than just the city. It was one of the first times I built a true community around me and really lived the life I wanted. Too often I’ve just gone where life has taken me and haven’t truly held the reins and said “this is what I want.” With life in Amsterdam, I did.
.
The circumstances under which I’m leaving are sad ones. And I’m not shutting the door completely on it. But for now, the right thing to do is to be near my family during some difficult times. I always said if one of my family members got sick, I’d move back. And I didn’t expect for that to happen so quickly after moving abroad. But sometimes that’s the shit life hands to you.
.
So, it’s not farewell, but it’s a see you later and thanks for the amazing life and memories you allowed me to build, Amsterdam. You were truly one of the best adventures I’ve ever had in life. ❤️❤️
No matter where I travel or where I’ll ever live No matter where I travel or where I’ll ever live again in the future, this city is the most picture perfect place I’ve ever laid eyes on. 🥰

And turns out he works for a Sheikh and we spent 4 hours talking and hanging out on the Sheikh’s compound at the beach.
