Autumn Activities in New South Wales, Australia

Autumn is one of those magical times in the year when landscapes start to change, with colorful reds, and warm yellows in bloom it is hard job to stay indoors. Enjoy six events around New South Wales, with a lineup of art, culture and entertainment there is something for every kind of traveler, adventurer or wine connoisseur.

Sydney – Titanic Exhibit

A die-hard Titanic fan? Aren’t we all. This exhibit takes the cake! Explore the heart of the ship, inspect artifacts, and even encounter an iceberg. When you ‘hop aboard’ you receive a ticket, which corresponds with an actual person who originally traveled on the Titanic, you learn about their life, their reason for travel, and whether they survived. Make sure to explore more of the city, as Sydney blooms during Autumn, with colorful trees dotting the streets.

Oberon – Autumn Festival

With many events year-round displaying the beauty of the Mayfield Gardens, don’t fret if you can’t make it to their Autumn showcase. One of the world’s largest cool climate gardens at over 160 acres of manicured lands. Visit the cafe for a farm to table experience you are not soon to forget. With the musical expertise of Matt Boylan Smith, and the best wood-fired pizza in the area the Autumn Fest is not to be missed. Make sure to grab tickets ahead of time.

Pokolbin – Hunter Valley Food & Wine Festival

The Hunter Valley Food and Wine Festival is a great opportunity to sip on your favorite Sem-sav and become immersed in all of the culinary glory that the Hunter Valley has to offer. With a month of events, grab some time away from the city and explore the valley. Make sure to get tickets early, because this festival always sells out!

Bega – The Archibald Prize

One of Australia’s most prestigious art awards, first developed in the early 1900s. Bega is one of the few galleries outside of Sydney to host this touring exhibit. After checking in on the art, explore the Heritage Cheese Centre, or drop into one of the national parks in the area.

Bathurst – Autumn Colours Festival

The Bathurst region boasts colorful events throughout the year. From the V8 races, to the Royal show; the Autumn Festival adds to the lineup of fun and cultural events held in Bathurst. This three month long festival includes heritage walks, artisan markets, and the Gold Crown event which all aim to showcase the Autumn beauty of the region.

Kangaroo Valley – Arts in the Valley

A short three-day event held in the heart of Kangaroo Valley. With a culture overflow pouring out some of the best art, live entertainment, and sculptures the region has ever seen. Known for intimate venues, and personalized experiences with author and art this is one of the best ways to spend an Autumn weekend. Explore this small colonial town, or go hiking in the surrounding areas, with beautiful walks and wine tasting, Kangaroo Valley won’t disappoint.
