Dream Destination: Socotra

Socotra sounds like one of the coolest places on Earth. In Sanscrit, it means “The Island of Bliss”. An otherworldly island in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Yemen, Soctora is home to about 40,000 people and about a third of its plant life is only found there. The entire island was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. When you look at pictures of Socotra, it’s easy to see why tourism has recently started blossoming there. The landscape is incredibly diverse–mountains and a limestone plateau on the interior, and pure white sand-dune beaches with palm trees on the coast. Apparently, diving in the coral reefs is amazing as well. And where else in the world can you see Dragon’s Blood trees? Enough talk, let’s just look.
