Foodie Friday: Austrian Apfelstrudel

This week’s Foodie Friday features apfelstrudel. You absolutely cannot go to Austria without eating apfelstrudel–a delicious concoction of flaky dough, apples, cinnamon and sugar, and served with a side of vanilla ice cream (or custard or sauce).

I had this particular apfelstrudel at Elefant Restaurant in Salzburg, and it was definitely the best I had on my road trip (I ate apfelstrudel at probably four different restaurants while on that trip). This plating was also the most beautiful (and unusual) I had seen–with sides of kiwi, apple, and starfruit.
