Foodie Friday: Bunny Chow

I’m going to try a new weekly series–Foodie Friday. Every Friday I’ll post a photo and a short description about some food item I’ve eaten somewhere around the world.

For the first Foodie Friday, I present you with Bunny Chow.

Chicken Bunny Chow

Contrary to what the name suggests, there is no rabbit in bunny chow. Bunny chow is a South African dish originating from the Durban Indian community, which is where I tried it. It basically consists of a hollowed out loaf of bread filled with the curried meat of your desire (this particular one was chicken, but I also tried mutton). I was so excited to try it after reading about it in a travel book about South Africa. It was delicious. So so delicious. So delicious that even now, almost three years later, I still dream of having some, and may attempt to make it at some point.
