Foodie Friday: Chicago Dogs

chicago dog

A couple of years ago my then-boyfriend and I took a trip to Chicago for Memorial Day. While we didn’t go with the intention of turning it into a Chicago food tour, that’s essentially what it ended up being. (Well, that and museum tour.)  We knew there were a ton of things we wanted to try while there, and I think the Chicago dog was the thing he was most looking forward to.

After a bit of record shopping, we stopped by the Weiner’s Circle in Lincoln Park for a typical Chicago dog: an all-beef dog on a poppyseed bun, topped with mustard, onions, sweet pickle relish, tomatoes, pickled peppers, and finished off with a pickle spear. Minus the tomatoes (I’m a tomato-hater), it was pretty delicious. Not how I’d typically go for a hot dog, but when in Rome..
