Foodie Friday: Italian Goodies

Italian food goodies

Today’s Foodie Friday features some of my favorite Italian goodies ever! When I studied abroad in Rome, I fell in love with so many foods we just didn’t have in the US (or maybe we could get them–but they just weren’t as good!).

Being back in Italy made for a great excuse to stock up on a lot of these goodies, and stock up I did. Some of this was eaten in the car while road tripping, but a few of these actually made their way across the Atlantic with me so I could enjoy them for a bit longer.

Here’s what we have:

  • Ferri di Cavallo (literally “horse shoes”): these are delicious horse-shoe shaped cookies dipped in dark chocolate
  • Mandorlini del Ponte: crispy and light little almond meringue cookies
  • Cornetti: these croissant wanna-bes are my absolute. favorite. I always preferred the plain sugar ones, but I also got some creme-filled to try this time around (and they didn’t disappoint!)
  • Chocolate-covered waffles: okay, so these aren’t actually Italian. They were Belgian-style.
  • And Taralli: these crispy, doughy bagel-like snack food are amazing. When I studied in Rome, I was beyond obsessed with the pepperoncini flavor, but this time around, I found several different flavors, including pizza! So tasty.

What’re your favorite Italian treats?
