Copenhagen is Denmark’s capital and largest city. While it’s large enough to be home to tons of cafes, shops, museums, and more, it’s still intimate enough to feel like the small Viking town it was founded as. There are several boroughs to choose from when picking a place to stay, and plenty of lovely boutique hotels to suit your fancy.

Copenhagen Island Hotel

Let’s kick this off with a totally unique hotel: Copenhagen Island Hotel. As its name suggests, this hotel is on a manmade island in central Copenhagen! It’s ultra-modern and provides free Wi-Fi, a hotel gym, and a sauna. Not only that, but its location is perfect: right next to Fisketorvet Shopping Center and a five-minute walk from Dybbølsbro Train Station. All rooms have either harbor or city views and have sitting areas to make your stay more comfortable. If you’re hungry, try the hotel’s restaurant, the Harbour, which specializes in fresh seafood dishes.

Hotel Alexandra

If you’re a mid-century modern enthusiast (hear, hear!), Hotel Alexandra is right in your wheelhouse. This throwback to the 1950s and ’60s features classic streamlined Danish furniture in a renovated building that’s over 100 years old. Rooms offer modern amenities such as soundproof windows, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. The hotel is perfectly situated just steps from Copenhagen’s Town Hall Square and Tivoli Gardens. Head to the hotel’s Lé Lé Street Kitchen, which serves Vietnamese-inspired cuisine, cocktails, and fresh fruit juices.

Nimb Hotel

If you’re looking for something a little more exotic and on the opposite end of the spectrum from Danish mid-century modern, check out the Moorish-inspired Nimb Hotel in Tivoli Gardens. Rooms are elegantly appointed with antique furniture and four-poster beds, double sinks in the bathroom, and fireplaces, and free-standing tubs in many. There are various choices for dining on-site and include everything from seafood and steaks to Scandinavian and French cuisine.

Bertrams Guldsmeden

Just a 15-minute walk from Tivoli Gardens and Copenhagen Central Station, Bertrams Guldsmeden is a gorgeous hotel in a great location near lots of shops, restaurants, and bars. Each room features hardwood floors, Persian rugs, and traditional Balinese decor. Start your morning with their organic breakfast buffet, featuring homemade bread from a local bakery. After a long day of sightseeing, relax under the heat lamps in the quiet courtyard garden.

First Hotel Mayfair

If you want to be close to everything, First Hotel Mayfair is the choice for you. This hotel is just a five-minute walk from Tivoli Gardens and Copenhagen Central Station, making it easy to get to and close to all the action. Each room is individually decorated in bright colors to combat those dreary Scandinavian winter days. There are rooms suited for every type of travel–from solo to family. The hotel also has a library bar and a lounge with a log fireplace for those cold evenings.

No matter which hotel you choose, you will be sure to find something great, stylish, and close to everything that’s happening in Copenhagen!
