There is a lot more to Miami Beach than meets the eye. If you are sick of spending time on the beach and want to see what else Miami Beach has to offer, don’t worry–there’s a lot! Whether you want to shop, be transported back to another era or to a new place, or just take in the sites, you won’t run out of things to see and do. No matter where you choose to stay in Miami Beach, you will be close to the following things to see and do!

Cuban Flavor

Soak up a little of that Cuban flavor in Little Havana. When immigrants flooded Miami area when Castro came to power in 1959, they turned this Little Havana into their home away from home. Even today you will find shops and restaurants that look like they had been transported here directly from Cuba. Walking along, you will hear Latin music streaming from little record shops; catch the scent of cigars as you pass by shops; and see quintessentially Cuban-style homes complete with rocking chairs on the porches.

Teleport to Venice

The large outdoor Venetian Pool was once a quarry that was converted into an Italian villa-style pool in the 1920s. Complete with waterfalls, this ornate pool has been keeping Miamians cool for almost 100 years. Not only is it a place to cool off, but the pool has also hosted the likes of Hollywood stars, dance troupes, and orchestras–might you be so lucky as to catch one of them while visiting?

Transport Back In Time

Miami Beach in the 1920s-1940s saw huge growth and lots of new construction. What that means for you today is that you can check out some beautiful art deco buildings all around the area. The best place to spot these glamorous buildings is on Ocean Drive before diving in further in the Art Deco District. Keep an eye out for the window “eyebrows” and bold colors, which were typical of this over-the-top architecture style.

Shop Till You Drop

Affectionately known by locals as the “Road,” Lincoln Road Mall is home to sidewalk cafes, shops, cultural venues, and clubs. Known as the “Fifth Avenue of the South,” you can find almost everything here. Spend some of your hard-earned cash at the Village of Merrick Park, which is comprised of three open-air stories and 115 shops and boutiques. Here is where you will find top-of-the-line shops like Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Burberry. If that’s a bit too high-brow for you, do not fear–Aventura Mall might be more your speed. At Aventura, you can shop at the likes of Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s along with many other department stores.

Miami Beach doesn’t have to be all about hot bodies and tanning on the beach. If you have had your fair share of the sun and want to get out and explore, there is plenty to fill your time!
